Apr. 16th, 2008 03:32 pm"It is for this reason (pointing to the matzot) that G-d brought me out of Egypt." The neat thing about this is the pun on matzot/mitzvot which are both spelled מצות. I think that's great when you think about mitzvot as a way of bringing G-d and kedusha to the world. So what we're saying is... It is in order to bring kedusha into the world that G-d brought me out of Egypt. Or, social justice mitzvot... It is to protect the widow, rejoice with the orphan, and give voice to those without a name that G-d brought me out of Egypt. Damn. I better start doing that stuff.

Date: 2008-04-16 08:58 pm (UTC)i think a goal of $18 is totally reasonable given how much i just carved out of my moneys (out of my future earnings) for luxury foods for myself and guests and housemates during the holiday...i mean each bottle of wine is btwn $8-$14...and lets not even go into the costs of Pesach candies and things
and the chometz i am selling was worth about $18 ...so I think I gotta donate at least the amount I 'made' from selling my chometz...right?
so I'm thinking to donate to Mazon unless I hear of a better food related organization
btw, ALYN hospital for pediatric rehabilitation in Jerusalem is a GREAT non-food related charity: http://www.alyus.org
