The Community of Ville de Tofu is a large, safe nation, notable for its compulsory vegetarianism. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 23 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 71%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out. Military funding has been stripped back, a large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and the tenet of free speech is held dear. Crime is totally unknown. Ville de Tofu's national animal is the cow, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the soy. Ville de Tofu is ranked 25th in the region and 20,376th in the world for Highest Average Tax Rates.
