So I think this is a decent concept, but (my anarchist side says), the focus on advertising dollars is a bit sketchy and it's also problematic that these villages are coerced to rely on outside help. Africa's dependence on outsiders is generally problematic in that it doesn't support local growth and development.... I hate having to buy into the current system to create progress. It feels weak.

It's had a lot of success both inside and outside of Africa, and that success has turned into a certain ease in getting grants to install them. Sometimes you need to ignore feelings, values, and politics if it means clean water, at least in the short term.
