On biking to work

So I've boke to work 3 times so far. It feels GREAT! I am more excited to start my day than when I commute by rail+bus and I love the rush of that last hill where the road sucks and the sidewalk sucks more, so I'm chugging at 10 up a steep climb with cars frustrated at not being able to pass me because there's oncoming traffic. I like being able to leave for or from work whenever I want and arriving at my destination an hour later. Not worrying about missing the bus so I have to sit around for 30 min reading or walk down Mass Ave until the next bus finally shows. It's all in all pretty good. And I feel stronger which is good and proud of myself, too.
I get such a rush, though, that I find it hard to concentrate for the first hour at my desk (maybe more). I'm just ready to bike more or run or eat or talk with someone or SOMETHING that is visceral and not mental. I don't want to figure out why students aren't syncing correctly or even run the application to test things. It's boring. Maybe this is why Dobish is a ski instructor. There's something entirely not boring about physical activity/social interaction and something lame about desk work, no matter how much fun it is.
There's a reason I spent all weekend outside and LOVED it. It just feels good to be alive and to be in touch with the world.
Anyway, soon the beautiful DC spring will fade into a humid sticky/torrentially raining summer and I will be forced into bus commuting, but in the mean time, I am loving it.

that's something ive always wanted to do. i dont know how to ride a bike :( but i am totally the type of person who prefers to be oudside on the street walking, so with a bike i could cover so much more ground!
