Moldy Peaches (+++)... If you like low-fi college rock and clearly spoken, intelligent but sarcastic and dirty lyrics
The Killers - Sam's Town (+)... If you like low-fi, but highly produced British-style poppy mod music
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away (++)... NOT on par with their previous excellent album. Clearly a "we hit it and let's try to redo our success" effort. I expect and hope their next album will see a renewed creativity.

Awesome! It's the kind of stuff I'd hear on fm 106.3 in high school. I love it.

Not G106.3, fm 106.3 - before they were bought out by Press Communications and became G106.3 and sucky. Nostalgia forced me to find out more details, and I found this: Image
Awesome. that will now be my buddy icon.

It might have been comparatively cool, but fm 106.3 was actually good. They had a whole variety of alternative music (and until they tightened up their playlist in 2000 or so, they didn't overplay songs). They played local music like Evelyn Forever. They played music that never got air time like Camper Van Beethoven or Hum. They played Nirvana even after Kurt died. You'd see the DJs at local venues like the Birch Hill. One lived about 10 blocks from me and had gone to my high school (and had had my English teacher). After they became G106.3, their playlist was down to maybe 250 songs, and they got rid of Local Licks and trashed a number of other good shows (and good DJs) to make it more "advertizer friendly". See the wikipedia page on its glory days (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHTG#Glory_days).

Are they from Philly? I guess they started up after I moved away from the city.

You're right! (According to her myspace, she's apparently the female part of the band)

you'll have to search for her by name. I think I took her off my friends page because she was just posting pictures of her new baby all the time (who IS really cute). I like her music better than the moldy peaches.
