My grandmother passed away on saturday. I found out after getting back from JitW on Sunday afternoon. The funeral is Tuesday. Logistical complication ensues.
According to my tradition, aside from doing good deeds in their name, it's good to recite prayers for them and to them (as if they can hear you) every seven days for 49 days, which lucky for you is always shabbos.
Thank you, but no, I took the train up and now i'm back in DC. Hell of a week though. Three people died within a few degrees of separation (#3 is the one who jumped in front of the Metro at Bethesda who I don't know that I knew, but I was affected by his death in a very practical way, anyway)
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Also, interested in coming to our place for dinner one night? Good company and a home-cooked meal (cooked by someone else! :))
