I really don't understand right-wing Jews. I'm mad. This is a rant.
1. How can we keep such a narrow view of Torah so that the wonderful messages to love the stanger in your communities get whittled down to something as insignificant as "love a convert"? There is no such thing as a convert - you're either Jewish or you're not. There is no halachic anything that makes converts at all different from me or any other born jew.
2. Why do we continue to define ourselves as chosen people but then act like every other selfish ass in the world? How can we support policies that benefit us and cause suffering for others?
3. Why is Israel the most important issue to us? It's sickening that we're this damn selfish. Voting for someone only because of their support of Israel is as bad as voting for someone based on how they feel about abortion. It's such a narrow viewpoint. And this "support of Israel" thing is so full of shit, too. Why is it good to blindly support a government's policies? It's as stupid as the damn "support our troops" stickers we so proudly stamp on our SUVs as we keep our kids out of the military at all costs. You're not supporting a group of people by making them the frontlines or encouraging hardline. Terrorism does not end by fire. You'd think we learned taht lesson already.... Ideologies cannot be killed, anger cannot be bombed, and disempowerment cannot be painted over.
4. Shabbas is wonderful. Don't try to make laws that let you keep it less and less.
5. Laws governing relations between man and man are incredibly important. Quit finding loopholes. Start playing nice.
6. Laws governing relations between man and G-d are incredibly important. Especially when you ACTIVELY seek a connection with G-d. If you don't do that, you're just praying to a siddur.
7. Just because it's mesorah doesn't mean it's necessarily right. Just because they're haredi doesn't mean they're right. Just because they're reform doesn't mean they're wrong. Just because they sound like they're Christians doesn't mean they're wrong. Sometimes, we should stop separating themselves and start being good people.
8. Elul is a time to reconnect with G-d. Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li. ELUL. I'll try to. You should, too.

This is to no one in particular and about nothing in particular. i just had to vent.
