Let's talk a little bit about "putting a fence around the Torah". Yeah, you know, a Bimah. But not just a physical bimah -- a spiritual bimah.

First, you ever not turned on a light switch to avoid working on the Sabbath? Ok, I'm sure you're familiar with this, so you know what "putting a fence around the Torah" means.

Second, let's examine Exodus chapter 20 real quick: As you can see, there are actually more than ten commandments in the decalogue. Let's look:

1) Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
2) Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; -- Do you have pictures of your family in your home? I would say that you do, given that you have an icon of yourself and your child. Do you know that pictures are graven images of something made in the earth beneath? Do you know that Psalm 82 says that 'ye are gods.'? (yes, even though JPS twists it into godlike beings, the word there actually is elohim)

You've broken the first two already, my friend. Every modern person on the planet has. Do you think Jesus and the Jews during his time had such graven images? How about the Essenes who lived in the wilderness? I think not.

Do we really have to look at the rest? I hope not.

So, now that I've demonstrated how there sometimes needs to be more of a fence around the Torah after you accused me of idolatry, let's take a look at a gaping hole in your Torah-observance:

Sin sacrifice. Leviticus 17:11 says that the only way to atone for your sins is through the blood of an animal without blemish. Indeed, the Rabbis asserted this very same thing in Zevahim 6a of the Babylonian Talmud. Now, Ezekiel 18:4 says the soul that sins dies. And it goes even further to say that in order to live, you have to walk in Hashem's statues and keep Hashem's ordinances. Have you done this? Or are you without sin? I only know of One man in history who has been asserted by others to be without sin, as it is written in Isaiah 53:9.

Jesus was both man and God, as I have proven that it's possible for the Messiah to be both man and God by showing that modern Jews have their understanding of Messiah half right. Messiah would indeed be a man, but Messiah would also indeed be God as the Midrash shows. Messiah would indeed be able to die, as we can see in Daniel chapter 9 and Isaiah chapter 53.

So, given that Jesus is a manifestation of the One who the both of us worship, I would say that modern Jews are missing out on the biggest part of the Torah: sin sacrifice. Prayers, good deeds and repentance aren't enough. In fact, good deeds and repentance are already a part of the Torah that you're supposed to keep. How often do you 'give a grain offering' in addition to your tithe? And since when have the Rabbis had greater authority than Moses and the Torah?

So before you go judging me and telling me I'm being idolatrous, perhaps you should take a minute and reflect on your own idolatry, my friend. In addition to your own Torah observance.
