so i had an interview scheduled today in nyc. ok, fine. so i get up way early this morning all ready to take the 7 am chinatown bus, but it was raining and i didnt feel like going down to chinablock and waiting outside in the rain for a bus that i might not even get to ride. i call amtrak and find out that i can just take a train and get there more expensively but leave later... and from a station!
so i get to the amtrak station, get on board, and as i'm pulling into bwi, i get a voicemail. its the place i'm interviewing with.
"Hi, I'm calling to let you know that the interview is cancelled. Call me back so we can talk about it."
What the Fuck??!
So I call back. "Hi. Yes, it's been cancelled. I'm running off to a meeting right now, so I can't explain it. Give me a call back later today so I can talk to you."
Ok. So now I have no reason to go to nyc. I ask the conductor when the train gets to Metropark, NJ. "Oh, we don't stop at Metropark. We pass Metropark at 120 mph." "Oh, that's okay," I said. "Just let me know so I can get ready to jump out."
Fuck.
anyway, then I'm pulling into Philly as I call up NJ Transit and check when their train leaves Trenton. 1:15. Ok, that's about an hour from now. It takes about 40 min on the SEPTA R7 to get to Trenton, so I had only a few minute wait. Anyway, I get to Princeton Junction at like 1:30 pm and my mom is nice enough to pick me up.
i get to the house and call my friend the flatleaver back. "What's the deal?" I ask. "Oh, well.... we basically thought we were going to hire for this position but we can't sit another person in the office. You were one of the top three, though, so if we ever do actually hire for this position, we'll call you."
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Tell me i sucked. Tell me someone else was incredible. Tell me the day before. Whatever. Don't cancel on me beause you're not fucking hiring for the position!
anyway, in all, looong day w/o much accomplished.
i did get to see nemeth and andrew. that was really good. basically, they are the reason i convinced myself not to cancel the interview at 5 am when i woke up.
anyway, now i'm exhausted and talking on im. why don't i go to sleep when im tired.
