leftyjewSaw the Lobster Boy Revue tonight with mitch and adam.
A variety show including burlesque and magic and that old-fashioned laurel-and-hardy-type comedy.
it was worth seeing. especially lobster boy (a sarcastic, heavily-intoxicated guy in a giant lobster costume), eva brontosaurus (an 80s spoof band) and trixie little and her tap-dancing evil hate monkey (t.l. was a burlesque superhero, and the hate monkey was a guy dressed in a monkey outfit who sounded a bit like strongbad or dirk dastardly and grew giant GM bananas. they performed sketches and tap dance numbers together)
the weirdest part of the night was the group of three septa-plus-genarians in front of us. what, i wonder, brought them to this gen-x burlesque show at 9 pm in adams morgan, dc? perhaps it was the magical tramp (mr. tramp who performed magic). adam says they seemed to like him a lot. but...there was a very grandmotherly woman among them. why would she go to a show in which a girl got naked and tasteless jokes were made about pop culture and sex?
anyway, here's to the candy corn singing about tofu and tequila. and good night.
