Well, I graduated. It rained. Still raining. Has been raining for about a full week, though I did get one day off. It wasn't sunny still, though. What a crummy start to the unofficial beginning of summer.
Anyway, I graduated last Sunday, moved out Monday, had part one of a job interview Tuesday, had part two Thursday, and on Friday they told me I was hired. Now I start in a week. Way too fast.
Oh, wait. What is this job, you ask? Oh, you didn't? Sorry, I thought I heard you say that. Well, I'll tell you anyway. It's working with ACORN for shit money as a community organizer in Philadelphia. And no, I will not explain what a community organizer is to you. Too many people have asked already. Suffice it to say that it's like a union organizer but organizing communities to fight instead of shops. No, it isn't social service or community development. It approaches the same problem from a diferent philosophy - entitlement, not dependency, strength, not helplessness. If you want to know more, go to ACORN.org.
Anyway, I'll be working in Philadelphia, so I need to find a place there by next Monday. Rachel's grandmother lives in Philly and is letting me stay at her place for a few weeks until I find a place. How nice is that?! Anyway, I need a place, furniture, and to get healthy. The week of running around, tiredness and rain has given me a fever of 100.0° exactly (according to the electronic thermometer here. I'd say that kind of preciseness calls for a celebration! Instead I went to the medical center and they gave me some antibiotics. Anyway, I am going to drink some fluids and if you know someone in PHilly looking for a friend (or maybe even a roommate), let me know. I am.
Whooo! I'm pumped!
