So I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy and I don't have Internet at my apt, so I have a valid excuse. Not like I need an excuse.

So anyway...
Check this out. I moved July 29th. To do that, I rented a truck from Budget. I moved within DC a total of 12 blocks. Ok, I had to drive the truck from 3rd and NY NE to 9th and Q, and then to 10th and M and then to CT and Albemarle and then to 16th and U and then to my apt and then to 10th and M SW to drop a friend off and then back to 3rd and NY. I did the distance thing on Mapquest and it came to just over 20 miles (maybe 23. I don't remmeber). Anyway, I took the truck out at 4pm and was back in my house (after waiting for a taxicab for a hella long time) LOOOONG before 1 am. I think it was midnight actually. Anyway, I'll give them til 1 and be incredibly generous. Also, I admit that I made a few wrong turns, particularly getting the truck back (pulled over by some cops for driving a truck in a no-truck zone. that was scary. They just shouted at me from the street "PULL OVER!!" so I stopped short and yelled back "Where?"). Anyway, at no point did I leave the nation's capital. Yet somehow, in those 8 hours, I apparantly drove 1023 miles. To give you an idea of 1023 miles, it's 800 miles from Northern VA to Orlando. To give you another idea of 1023 miles, in order to drive that far in the max 8 hours I had the vehicle, I'd have had to drive it 127.875 mph without stopping. How does a 10' moving van go 128 mph without stopping and never get pulled over for speeding? I guess DC cops really suck. Anyway, I'll keep you updated on how this story progresses. Last thing, I spoke with a woman who said the person before me had a one-way move (city-to-city) that they charged him 3 miles for, so she'll get back to me tomorrow on that before issuing the $973 promisory note.

In a related story, my old landlord is keeping my $600 deposit because he can. Grumble. This may go to court. I have plans to go to landlord-tennant court with a coworker who's having worse problems for Thursday.

But besides these financial concerns, I'm doing great. Got mezuzot for my doorposts, went jogging on a beautiful summer day, spent time with normal people on Friday night (so weird), did karaoke and got completely trashed for a friend's bday on Sat, had some yummy vegan apple raviolis from Sticky Fingers, almost went to a farmers market but it closed, lost two games of chess, got an A/C, and other things. Anyway, good rest is important to staying sane, so I'm going to get some of that now. Or at least go home and eat and then get some rest. Or at least go home and eat.

Give me suggestions for cheap decent furniture! I need a countertop, a small coffee table, and a small couch/loveseat/armchair/futon.

Later.
