leftyjewso i'm back in dc. the whole road trip idea didn't pan out. too many bad omens keeping me from going (i got into an accident which kept me near nj until sept 3 and i was preparing for the trip when i was in NYC during the blackout. i decided instead to go to dc. so that's where i am now. i'm looking for a job and a place to live. tough to do both at once. im staying at adam and jon's in SW which is an interesting situation, but it's kinda fun. only problem is that i don't have a bed so i can't go to sleep on my schedule - i sleep on their sofa-bed. for example, right now i'm exhausted, but instead of heading back "home" to take a nap, i'm sitting in Gelman library in between meeting two different friends because i have a feeling that jon is either watching tv or eating or something so i can't nap. it makes sense, just a reason to get my own place.
today i looked at 2 places so far, met with one friend, will meet with another and will look at one more place (maybe 2). busy day. anyway, one of the places i was looking at was 740/mo in the middle of the ghetto. i felt like i was organizing again - had my red notebook, backpack, and i was even wearing the kind of clothes i'd wear. i decided that i wasn't going to take that place - more money, less convenient, less safe... what's the good?
anyway, that's it for now. i gotta fall on my face....
